Bring your partner, bestie, or your lovely self and learn the art of enameling! In this fast and fun class, you will be learning the method of fusing glass to metal without a kiln to create your own enameled jewelry. Enameling is one of the few ways to apply color to metal and create beautifully complex designs. Cost includes $20 materials fee.
No experience required; all levels welcome! Class is limited to 5 students.
Students will create a custom pendant or key chain and will learn:
- Selection of type of metal and enamels
- Cleaning metal for application
- How to apply enamels
- Torch use
- Clean-up and graphite application
At the end of class, enjoy a glass of wine or beer and some light healthy snacks.
Class duration: 2 hours with 1/2 hour of socializing at the end.
Tools will be provided. You need to bring a N95 or KN95 mask to wear when working with powdered enamel.
The last day to cancel for a full refund is August 5, 2022. We will email you 5 days prior to August 13 with all the details that you need for the start of class.
About the instructor, Kenzie Nelson
Kenzie has been enveloped by art and art making her entire life and loves nothing more than connecting with others through the act of creating. After taking an introduction to metalsmithing class in her first year of college, she became infatuated with the medium. She earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from Colorado State University and graduated Magna Cum Laude with a concentration in metalsmithing and jewelry making. She loves sharing her passion with others and has teaching experience ranging from K-12 art, museum education classes, as well as collegiate level metalsmithing courses.
