A lot of kids love the opportunity to learn new skills where they can express their creativity which is why we have custom-designed this class for those in grade 6-8. Students will enter the life of a metalsmith and work at their own jeweler’s bench to learn how to wire wrap, draw on metal, and saw and texture a copper pendant. Not only will students gain new skills, they will also gain confidence by working in a safe and supportive environment.
At the end of class, student will have made a wire wrapped bracelet with genuine semi-precious stone beads, a hand-sawn textured copper pendant, and 2 colored pendants (or 1 pair of earrings).

About the instructor, Jen Barnhardt

Jen is a certified teacher in CO and the owner, designer, and instructor of Stoic Sage Designs. She taught High School English for 10 years and then took a break from the classroom to pursue creative endeavors and taught herself jewelry design. After moving to Colorado from Texas, Jen began taking classes at Silver Peak Studio to learn metalsmithing, and she is mentored by Jen Lesea-Ames, the owner of Silver Peak Studio.
Her “why” is to inspire youth and provide them opportunities to express their creativity.
While she loves making jewelry, she missed teaching which is why she has now merged her passions and experience to lead this class.
A few of her favorite things are: hiking, reading, bike riding, and camping with her husband and their two kids, River and Bodie.
