
Do you struggle with soldering? Once you increase your confidence with soldering, no matter what the project, jewelry fabrication becomes a lot more fun!
Many metalsmiths struggle with becoming proficient in soldering. Without proper guidance and practice, it is difficult to progress in this very important aspect of creating metal jewelry. This essential "technique only" workshop is specifically designed to foster an atmosphere of learning and support so that you can tackle any soldering challenge.
We will cover:
- the basic principles of soldering
- how different metals behave during soldering
- which solders to use for different pieces
- practice 7 different soldering techniques: sweat soldering, solder inlay, 3D soldering, ring soldering, post soldering, and butt-joint soldering
Class Duration: 8 hours with a 30 minute break for lunch
Prerequisite: Metals 1, Intro to Metalsmithing, or equivalent
