A jewelry class for students of all levels: no prior experience needed! In this one-day workshop held in our professional metalsmithing school in Louisville, you will learn how to make gorgeous gender-neutral metal chain bracelets and necklaces.

You will learn the entire process of non-soldered chain-making from start to finish. Also covered is will selection, winding of wire to make coils, and sawing of coils to make jump rings.

Next, you will be shown, then practice making 3 different patterns: byzantine, serpentine, and queen's chain. After making an inch of each pattern in copper,  students will choose one pattern and use it to a complete a bracelet in bronze wire (or silver wire if brought to class). An elegant clasp will then be added.

Prerequisite: None

Class is 8 hours with a 45 minute break for lunch. We have a mini fridge and microwave, a separate lunch room and a deck with a mountain view where you can relax on your break. We also have Nespresso coffee, tea, and snacks available for purchase.

Materials kit fee is $20. Materials kit includes 18 ga bronze wire, saw blades, and other materials used during class.  Students are welcome to purchase 12 feet of half hard silver wire in 18 gauge and clasps from Rio Grande Jewelry Supply and have it shipped well beforehand.
