Go beyond hammer textures and learn the nuances in adding unique textures to metal using flex shaft tools!

Sometimes texture is an important design element, sometimes it’s a way to express something in your jewelry, sometimes it’s a way to hide a mistake, and sometimes it’s just fun! 

If you are interested in learning a variety of ways to approach texture than this is the class for you. Students will learn different methods to create texture using stamping tools, hammers, and flex shaft tools.

This is predominately a technique-based class, though to will have the option of creating a textured copper pendant.

• 4 contact hours, ages 14+ located at the Silver Peak Studio Classroom 100 1/2 E. Cleveland St. Lafayette 80026
• Sunday, October 27, 9:00-1:00
• # students: 3 minimum, 6 maximum
• Materials fee is $35 for practice metal and a set of Michele's favorite flexshaft tools for texturing!
• Each student will work at their own dedicated jeweler's bench. 
• Prerequisite: none, though Metals 1 (or equivalent experience) is recommended

About the instructor, Michele Throne

Michele’s first dip into metalsmithing started with a high school class. She then picked it back up after getting her BFA at Florida State University. She’s been a full time jeweler for 11 years, and has been teaching art since 1998 and metalsmithing since 2012. 

Her deep love and appreciation for everything outdoors and love for people inspire her to create jewelry focused on nature and the human experience.
