The image of the woman in this piece is pierced and sawn copper soldered to a base plate. The spaces or cells were then filled with enamel powder. The enamel then melts and fuses to the metal after being fired in an enameling kiln over 10 times.
The images of women used in Kenzie's designs are pulled from vintage ads from the 1940s and 50s. These women are shown selling household products usually accompanied by a tagline that mentions the expectation that she become the perfect wife and homemaker. In an effort to give power back to these women, Kenzie redraws their faces zoomed in and with more modern hairstyles against bright bold backgrounds bringing them into the modern world. The other symbols and objects illustrated in this collection are other references to this time period.
