Stamping jewelry is more than just hammering letters or textures; there is a trick to it to get the letters/symbols evenly stamped, spaced, and blackened. This class will be held in our sunny, spotless, newly expanded jewelry school in Louisville!
Each participant will create an heirloom quality keepsake for that special person in their life (or for yourself!). You can commemorate a significant date or an amazing human by making the perfect treasured gift for you or someone you care about. This fun class is perfect for new moms to grandmas and folks who love moms. Experience is not required, just bring an open heart.
We Will Cover:
- Metal identification
- Simple stamping techniques
- Doming metal
- Necklace assembly
Class duration: 3 hours
Prerequisite: None. Minimum age 12 as long as legal guardian is present and taking the class (i.e. mother/daughter activity).

Tools needed: You will need to bring your own N95 or P95 mask (in addition to a cloth mask). This is for filtering out small particulates that are formed when metalsmithing. If you do not have a N95/KN95, we have them for sale at the studio for $5 each (limit 1 per person).
Materials Fee is $15 which will includes 3 discs, jump ring, and studio materials. Additional discs can be purchased at an additional charge. Sterling silver chains will be for sale at an additional charge. Cash or check accepted.
About the instructor, Liz Covert:
Liz honed her skills while earning a Bachelor of Fine Arts with an emphasis in small metals and sculpture. Inspired by the world around her, she continued her education with a Masters in Cultural Studies. Liz’s extensive experience in metal work includes welding, blacksmithing, and a career in sculpture conservation. Her teaching background ranges from first grade art classes to private jewelry lessons and has spanned over a decade.
Liz is the owner and creator behind Covert Metals, a one-woman metal working studio located in Denver, Colorado that has roots reaching from New York to Texas. Covert Metals emphasizes unique one-of-a-kind design that melds contemporary styling with hand-forged detailing.
Some of Liz’s favorite things are printed books and sci-fi in all forms. When she’s not at the bench she’s outside hiking, running, or cycling. Liz also loves food in all forms and flavors, and especially likes to cook. Her work is a reflection of all the things she enjoys wrapped up in the importance of quality over quantity.
