Add a bit of color to your jewelry designs by learning the fast and fun method of fusing glass to metal without a kiln to create your own enameled jewelry. Enameling is one of the few ways to apply color to metal and create beautifully complex designs. No experience required; all levels welcome!
Students will be creating a variety of enameled pieces which they have the option to turn into pendants or earrings. The workshop will entail a variety of enamel application techniques to create unique and vibrant designs.

- Cleaning metal for application
- How to apply enamels
- Torch use
- Firing of enamels
Class duration: 6 hours with a 30-minute break for lunch.
Tools and Materials:
Tools will be provided. You need to bring your own mask as well as a N95 or KN95 mask to wear when working with powdered enamel. If you do not have one, we have N95 masks for sale for $6 each.
Materials Kit fee (cash or check payable to instructor): $25 which includes enamels, copper, and other studio materials.

About the instructor, Kenzie Nelson
Kenzie has been enveloped by art and art making her entire life and loves nothing more than connecting with others through the act of creating. After taking an introduction to metalsmithing class in her first year of college, she became infatuated with the medium. She earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from Colorado State University and graduated Magna Cum Laude with a concentration in metalsmithing and jewelry making. She loves sharing her passion with others and has teaching experience ranging from K-12 art, museum education classes, as well as collegiate level metalsmithing courses.
Her work has been exhibited throughout the U.S. in curated and juried exhibitions, most recently in The Feminist Art Museum’s Protest and Protect and the Greater Denton Arts Council’s Materials: Hard and Soft.
Some of Kenzie’s favorite things are colorful eyeshadow, animals, and coffee. Making art is her favorite activity, but she and also enjoys going to flea markets, gardening, and being outside.
