Founder's Story
Hi, I'm Jen, former exercise physiologist turned full-time jewelry artist.
If you asked me 15 years ago that I would be a jeweler, I would have looked at you like you were a crazy person. At the time, I had a very successful career as a fitness professional. I also had a failing start-up that was causing me an incredible amount of stress which was taking a toll on me mentally and emotionally.
The tipping point was back in November of 2009 when I had to do something completely different and unrelated to work. I had to work my brain in a different way to get my mind off all-the-things, so I taught myself basic stringing and I beaded about 20 necklaces that weekend.
That unleashed something within me that had been dormant for many years. And through a lot of twists and turns, here I am, a full-time jeweler, metalsmith instructor, and owner of Silver Peak Studio and Gallery.
I share my story with you so that you know I get it; I get the importance of taking a break from the daily grind.
I get that its a benefit to your mind, body, and soul to have fun learning a new skill.
I get while you may not end up becoming a full-time jeweler like I did, that you will learn something about yourself in one of our jewelry classes.
After taking dozens of classes while studying metalsmithing at the Denver School of Metal Arts (2012-2016), I know what is important in a learning environment. And, I have always wanted my little school to be different. Here's what I offer that's different:
- 6 students max. for all our metalsmithing classes
- 2-hr, 4-hr, and full-day workshops are our focus. We have a few weekend workshops for more advanced classes
- State-of-the-art ventilation for soldering (safety and protecting your health is our top priority) in a light-filled, spotless professional metalsmithing studio which is in a safe location with plenty of free parking
- Dedicated kids' professional workshop space (ages 7+) in our gallery building, which is also light-filled, spotless, and in a safe location with free parking
- Private jewelry-making parties and team building events available
I would love to meet you, learn more about your goals for learning jewelry, and give you a private tour of our two classrooms. Please send me a note to schedule a time to meet with me.
Yours in creativity,
Jen
