Spinner rings have been around for awhile and they never seem to go out of style.  Also known as fidget rings, the smaller rings spin, and can help us spin time away or alternatively, bring us back to the present moment.

In this one-day class, learn how to make your own custom spinner ring with your choice to texture and one, two or even three thinner rings that spin!  Warning: this ring may become your new favorite piece of jewelry.

    We will cover:

    • ring sizing
    • metal selection
    • proper spinner ring sizing
    • Texturing metal
    • forming metal
    • Polish and finish work

    Details:

    • Saturday, March 1, 9:00-5:00
    • 8 contact hours, ages 14+ located at the Silver Peak Studio Classroom 100.5 E. Cleveland St Lafayette 80026
    • # students: 3 minimum, 6 maximum
    • Materials kit fee is dependent on amount of silver used and will be weighed at $2/gram.  14K gold filled will be weighed at $4/gram. Materials fee will be due by the end of class via cash, check, or Venmo.
    • Each student will work at their own dedicated jeweler's bench. 
    • Prerequisite: Metals 1, Intro to Metalsmithing, or equivalent

    The last day to cancel your reservation for a refund or transfer ($25 transfer fee applies) is February 15, 2025.

      About the instructor, Alec Schweiger

      Alec Schweiger bio picAlec has an MFA with an emphasis in Metals and Jewelry from Colorado State University-Fort Collins, and has been teaching metalsmithing at the collegiate level (CSU) since 2019.  He received a work study scholarship to the Penland School of Craft to study under Kim Cridler, as well as learning from Navajo Silversmithing masters Allison and Trent Lee.  

      His "why" is described as being an extremely curious person who has always been driven to figure out how things work or how they are made.

      Alec has a passion for teaching and is thrilled by the opportunity to share his experiences and skills.

      A few of his favorite things are: disc golf, golf, and jamming to vinyl with his wife, Emma, and dog, Micah.
