Wire links are a foundational skill which can be applied to many different designs. Learn the basics of making wire links by creating beaded earrings and a bracelet. You will also learn how to make a matching wire ring with a gemstone bead. You are welcome to bring your own beads from home, but beads will also be provided to make sure they fit the wire provided in this workshop. This class is perfect for beginners who want to learn a different technique beyond stringing beads!

At the end of class, students will have created 1 bracelet, 1 ring, and 1 pair of earrings from copper wire.

  • Elements of design
  • Basics of wire wrapping

  • Friday, January 24 from 10:00-1:00 or 5:00-8:00
  • 3 contact hours, ages 13+ at the Silver Peak Gallery Classroom located at 100 E. Cleveland St. Lafayette 80026
  • # students: 3 minimum, 6 maximum
  • Materials are included for copper wire, ear-wire, and clasp). You may upgrade to sterling silver ear-wire and lobster clasp for an additional $15. Sterling silver wire can be purchased for an additional $10. Any materials upgrades are payable to instructor at time of class.

About the instructor (Daytime session), Kathy Pinover

Kathy is Inspired by the beauty of nature and the craftmanship of vintage and fine jewelry. She learned beading techniques through formal classes and studied metalsmithing at Clear Creek Academy of Jewelry and Metal Arts in Denver. She continues to build upon her skills at Silver Peak Studio. In 2004 she opened her business and since created nearly 2500 uniquely designed and handcrafted pieces sold in galleries, boutiques, shows and online. Her passion is creating handmade beaded chains to which she may add metal-smithed embellishments to create one of a kind artisan jewelry.

About the instructor (Evening session), Samantha Chang

Samantha Chang is from Buffalo, NY and recently moved to Louisville, CO after spending ten years in Brooklyn. She holds a BA in Art History and Management from SUNY Purchase and is a multidisciplinary artist & jeweler who has studied various jewelry processes including beading, wire wrapping, pearl knotting, fabrication, wax carving, and most recently, welding! She taught her first jewelry making class when she was 16 and fell in love with sharing knowledge & techniques. 

Samantha learned jewelry making through classes at local bead stores, lots of trial and error, and has taken metal fabrication classes at the Jewelry Arts Institute in Manhattan. She then was an apprentice for an independent jeweler in Brooklyn. Most recently, she was a bench jeweler at Catbird NYC before moving out to Colorado with her husband. Samantha now has a jewelry line, Saintly, that she sells on Etsy and at art festivals.
