Demi-Hoop Earrings: Hammered and Twisted: March 16

Make your next favorite pair of earrings in this fun class; demi-hoops never go out of style.  In this class, you'll make a custom pair of hammered and or twisted (or 2 of your favorite style) demi-hoop earrings in sterling silver or 14K gold filled* in your choice of size and texture.

We will cover:

• Wire Selection
• Working with sterling silver and 14K gold filled wire
• Metal texturing
  
• Sizing
• How to solder posts
• Forming and finishing techniques

Details:

• Sunday, March 16: Hammered Hoops: 12:00-2:00. Twisted Hoops: 3:00-6:00
• 2 contact hours, ages 14+ at the Silver Peak Gallery Classroom located at 100 E. Cleveland St. Lafayette 80026
  
• Materials fee is $30 which includes sterling silver and gold filled wire or a combo of both, ear-posts (nickel-free) and silicone ear-backs. This is due at the beginning of class via cash, check, Zelle, or Venmo direct to the instructor.
• # students: 3 minimum, 6 maximum
  
• Prerequisite: none, though some soldering experience is recommended,

Instructor: Samantha Chang

Samantha Chang is from Buffalo, NY and recently moved to Louisville, CO after spending ten years in Brooklyn. She holds a BA in Art History and Management from SUNY Purchase and is a multidisciplinary artist & jeweler who has studied various jewelry processes including beading, wire wrapping, pearl knotting, fabrication, wax carving, and most recently, welding! She taught her first jewelry making class when she was 16 and fell in love with sharing knowledge & techniques. 

Samantha learned jewelry making through classes at local bead stores, lots of trial and error, and has taken metal fabrication classes at the Jewelry Arts Institute in Manhattan. She then was an apprentice for an independent jeweler in Brooklyn. Most recently, she was a bench jeweler at Catbird NYC before moving out to Colorado with her husband. Samantha now has a jewelry line, Saintly, that she sells on Etsy and at art festivals.
